Audio disappears when it gets delayed "too much"
First of all, I've seen the issue on these configurations:
- VLC 2.0.8 - Arch Linux
- VLC (master git) - Arch Linux
- VLC 2.0.8 - Windows 8
Thus I've marked "all" under platform, since it affects both Windows and GNU/Linux. Also, I've been able to reproduce it with two different video files (one .avi and the other .mkv) so I guess this is really a VLC issue. Furthermore, it is a audio delaying-only issue (if you hasten it instead, everything works nicely!).
To reproduce the issue, if you are under VLC 2.0.8:
- open a video file
- move to the middle (there should be some audio)
- delay by 2000ms by pressing the K key a bunch of times
- you should note some lag, but after a moment the audio gets back to normal; everytime you press ALT+LEFT_ARROW (or RIGHT arrow) to skip 10 seconds you will experience the lag again: this does not happen when you hasten the audio track instead of delaying it!
- press K again until you delay it by 3500ms, then press ALT+LEFT_ARROW: now the audio disappears permanently! (unless you press J to bring it back at 3000ms or lower)
Under VLC (master git) you can reproduce the issue in the same way, except that I found the "delay-breaks-audio limit" to be lower (about 2000ms, against the 3300ms of VLC 2.0.8).
Again, hastening the audio track works like a charm and without any lag... So I really wonder why delaying it should behave SO differently: thus, I think this is actually a major defect and should be fixed as soon as possible.
