Subtitles detection is too slow for GVFS SMB network mount points
Hi,
I'm using VLC 2.0.5 on openSUSE 12.2 from the official Videolan repo for openSUSE.
When I try to play a single audio file (MP3, WMA, etc.) from a folder on a network Samba share (LAN is wireless 802.11b, pretty slow), the album art appears immediately, but it takes several minutes before the music starts playing. During the delay, there is high LAN activity.
I tried setting all the cache settings to 10ms, I tried disabling all album art, and I tried opening it from the smb:// protocol in Thunar file manager and I also tried opening it from the /run/user/me/gvfs directory, but it makes no difference. Under the same conditions, other media players immediately start playing the music. I also tried moving just one large MP3 file (~50MB) into its own directory on the SMB share with nothing else in it, and VLC loads it and starts playing instantly. So apparently VLC is trying to load some other information from other files on the share when they are present. No idea what exactly is happening tho.
Thanks for the help! Sb
