czech subtitles

When I install latest VLC verison czech subtitles do not working right. I use subtitles which i backup with films on my usb disk before reinstall PC. I try change settings in VLC to UTF8 and windows1250, but it dont working right too. but on before version it works ok. now I need to open every subtitles(*.srt) with notepad and save it like *.srt with UTF8 encoding. (my english is no good, but I hope You uderstad me) Maybe it can be fixed on next version. I dont know why it working on earlier version and on the latest no. :(

If there are two or more subtitles files corresponding to the video, subtitles file encoding is always recognized as UTF-8 even if you set other encoding (e.g. windows1250).

I think it's a bug.

In the mean time, you have to convert the subtitles file to UTF-8 as you did.

What do you mean by "not working"? Is it full of question marks (encoding problem) or full of squares (font problem)?

I'm not the reporter of this ticket, but for example:

• Prepare two external subtitles files. One subtitles is Shift_JIS(cp932) encoding (sample_jpn_sjis.srt), and the other is UTF-8 encoding (sample_dan_utf8.srt).
• Set VLC default subtitles encoiding setting to Shift_JIS.
• Play a video with these subtitles files and choose the subtitles track of the Shift_JIS file.
• VLC shows a lot of question marks because of "subsdec error: failed to convert subtitle encoding.".
• VLC shows the track of the UTF-8 file properly.

I can't judge it's a bug or a specification. Personally, I woule use rather UTF-8 encoding than local encodings (e.g. cp932, windows*), so I don't mind.
