Video freeze when subtitle delay is a "large" negative time

I stumble upon this bug while implementing subtitle delay by line

• Open video file with text subtitle (eg. srt)
• Set subtitle delay to -100s via Tools > Track Synch.
• Video freeze for 100s

The delay is set via spu-delay which seems to be used for something else.

I can confirm this, it even happens with just small steps (video stutters for a fraction of a second) which means any (negative) adjustment will cause a short playback interruption.

when seeking backwards while the video catches up to the negative subtitle adjustment, even weirder things happen - for a while nothing appears to happen, then the seek indicator starts to move again, and at some point the video continues. and if the video seek results in a negative offset due to the adjustment, it will lock up entirely (at least i think these are the circumstances).

fwiw, this "let the stream catch up" approach is terrible usability; you could do a lot better with indexed media like dvds.
