Audio Skipping
Over the past few days I have noticed that when I try and play video files that my audio skips. Synchronization isn't an issue, it stays synced well with the video, but i jumps and cuts out for a moment roughly every 15 seconds. It sounds sort of like the needle jumping on a vinyl record player.
The files i was attempting to play were .avi and SRT primarily. while doing my own trouble shooting if found that the same .avi files would play fine in other media players like winamp and that i was having no trouble with other video intensive situations like streaming flash video etc. I then tested some music files in VLC and found that they played fine (they were WMA format).
After double checking i was up to date on my version my next attempts consisted of a reboot of both the program and my system to no avail. I then played with the codec settings on VLC setting them to use the system codecs if they were better. This didn't work. eventually I tried uninstalling and re installing VLC version 1.1.11. After that didn't work i took the suggestion of going back to an earlier version 1.1.9 had the same issues. Then out of frustration I shot down to version 1.0.0 and re installed to that one. Now it seems to be working fine with no audio skipping issues.
I fully admit that I do not know enough to know what may be causing this problem, but i figured that i should bring it up so that others were aware of it since i couldn't find anything solutions in the FAQ or here in the forums.
