#4358 closed defect (fixed)

Playlist starts playing last item, when multiple files open VLC

Reported by: ajmas Owned by:
Priority: normal Milestone: Bugs paradize
Component: Interface: OS X Version: master git
Severity: normal Keywords:
Cc: Difficulty: unknown
Platform(s): MacOS Work status: Not started

  1. open VLC.
  2. select a number of media files, take note of their names
  3. drag them to the VLC icon

The files are added to the playlist in alphabetical order, but when VLC starts playing it will start with the last file, as opposed to the first one in the group that was just added.

Expected behaviour would be to play the first file from the group of files that was drag and dropped.

Tested with MacOS X 10.6.5 and VLC 1.1.5. Have not tested on other platforms or versions.

This bug is still present in 2.0.0

Highly annoying.

Please fix in 2.0.1

I committed a fix for that in the unstable branch. While the original issue (playing the first file in group) is solved, I noticed some strange ordering:

First, the os delivers file nr. 2 - n, and at last, file nr. 1. I have no idea why, and if this ist specific to my configuration or os version. Could you try that out and report how it behaves on your machine?
