*Incorrect tag reading in the notable tag field of Publisher. The current tag field still displays tag info but for a tag field known as "ENCODEDBY" (encoded by) according to short tests done with VLC media information tag reading and the application mp3tag. "ENCODEDBY" would be useful to show in the 'extra metadata' tab so hold on to this.

Look at each of these crucial four images which show what I mean with the tag info:

This is normal and expected. encoded by and composer are displayed at the same place in VLC. Very few people use those and it takes extra space in VLC dialog.

If you don't like it, provide a UI patch. Else, this is normal.

This is not the response I was hoping but I understand you must think I am a nag at the subjects of tag reading.

Later someone else may report these same things.

As of now I cannot code/programming for Sh** but it's looks likely I will be learning some basic C or C++ and would try to contribute better to VLC in future

Please, you have to implement this, this is why 'Publisher' is there in the first place.

You wouldn't have the 'Artist' tag field but display the Year or other information in it, so why doi the same with Publisher, someone else may have to fix this then.

It's a bug so reopen is possible

And "Comments" shows perfectly also so this is further justification for this to be rectified for users wanting to see correct meta information

As far as I can tell this was an UI issue and fixed with the redesign of the Meta Info dialog in 7f2ab0ac.

It works as expected for me, so I'll close this.
