Language selected in DVD menu selects wrong audio track

Version: VLC 3.0.4

As language is selected in menu the actually played language is different. Manually changing the audio track then solves the issue. The issue was only seen on VLC. The menu language selection worked fine with other physical DVD players or windows media player. Noticed the same behavior on at least 5 DVDs.

Steps to reproduce:

• Copy video dvd to hard drive ( same behavior also directly from dvd )
• remove dvd
• click on copied folder with right click, select "play with VLC media player"
• language menu is shown
• select language
• select any chapter if selection offered
• notice the spoken language is not expected
• right click on video screen -> audio -> audio track
• notice the selected language track is different then previously selected
• select again the desired language
• now the spoken language matches the expected one

Note: In the attached pictures it can be observed that there are more languages in main menu then in audio track menu later on.

Actually selected audio track - Italian. Further more - notice the number of available audio track is smaller then in language menu:

Any chance someone would look into this bug? I am willing to make financial contribution if this would help.

I am using version 3.0.8 now and the bug is still there.

Simply put - language selection ( audio track selection ) from main menu does not work. Selected language is always English, no matter which language is selected in main menu.

Only afterwards, when video already playing, language can be manually changed as shown on images above.

Potentially connected ticket: #22741 - VLC ignores my preferred audio track language (but MPC doesn't)

Found a temporary solution mentioned in this ticket: #6710 Added "none" in preferred languages, then audio selection from menu worked fine.

Any chance this is fixed in the future versions? I am a member of a non profit international organization and many of us use VLC for our activities. Selecting proper language is important to us but this bug is making it more difficult...
