Black screen with UHD/HDR source with video default settings on Windows 7

When playing a UHD file (.M2TS h265 format, from UHD Blu-Ray decrypted disc) with VLC default settings, VLC plays the file (I can hear the audio), but only produces a black image (probably no image at all). When forcing VLC to use D3D11, it works fine. It looks like VLC is using D3D9 by default on Windows 7, when I read the logs. It used to work fine in D3D9 up to build vlc-3.0.0-20171213-0458-rc2-win64 (included). I tested the build right after, and I have a black screen. Same issue with a recent RC7 build.

I have the same issue if I force VLC to use "OpenGL for Windows".

Using Windows 7 x64, Intel CPU, AMD RX480 GPU.

I cannot reproduce with a RX 460 on Windows 10.

Cannot reproduce with RX 460 on Windows 7 either.

Are your drivers up to date ? Mine are 23.20.15002.11.

Can you provide a sample of the TS file you are playing ? Like the first 10/20 MB.

It also works with OpenGL for Windows with the right colors (tone mapping is working).

I can reproduce the issues with 2 different systems (both Win7 x64), with different video drivers, including the latest (23.20.15002.11).

Where do you suggest to send the sample file (which service?) I also need to find how to cut a 60GB file...

Same issue: black screen :( Video ouput works in D3D11, but tone mapping is incorrect (same as post RC2 builds).

This is not normal. If it was HDR, then it should go directly to OpenGL in this case...
