Albums are split into multiples in VLC for Android 2.5.12

Hi Guys,

Just updated to 2.5.12 (from the previous release version of 2.0.6) and noticed that many of my albums are split into two sometimes three albums with the same name.

Needless to say this is a very bad regression compared to the previous version!!

I am on Android 5.1 latest update.

I'm happy to provide any further info to help this get fixed!

Please share those files. If possible in the same folder hierarchy you have (in a .zip).

It's all Copyrighted Music, I don't think I'm allowed to share it... or am I?

That's good to know, thanks! I've uploaded only one of the albums as there are many that show up split but that would take a long time to upload. Please let me know if there is any more info I can provide to help fix this!

Did you keep the same hierarchy?

Yes. It is my phone's SD Card / Music / "different albums".

It seems that's two distinct Albums with the same name : in the subfolder '1981/' it's another album with tracks numbers marked from 1 to 9.

So the Media Library detected the distinct album and it appear separated.

So, the behavior is normal, no?

No this is not normal or correct!!

This is just one single album. There is no subfolder. There is just one folder that is one album.\ And it is recognised as one album by iTunes, correctly.\ Since this update to VLC for Android this splitting is a false behaviour!

The zip you gave, as one folder, and one subfolder. So, that's 2 folders. And 2 tracks with 1-9.

No the zip has my main directory called "Music". This has sub-folders that are the individual albums. In the case of my upload there is just one sub-folder in the "Music" folder and that one folder is a single album.

I see what you mean. There is a sub folder in there. Still in terms of metadata that is part of the same album and has always been recognised as ONE album.

Why is the number of tracks suddenly considered to force the player to recognise them as different albums?\ Yes it is the same album. No other player I've tested is forcing them into different albums because the track numbers are doubled up!

Then you are we supposed to list the tracks?

The way you have always done before, and as other players are doing it. 1,1,2,2,3,4..
