losing closed caption after update
I updated VLC to 2.2.6. It actually made it worse for me. (I am the one who created ticket 16705) Now VLC won't play closed captions at all for the files I previously created. I didn't save the .srt file because the previous version I had (2.2.4) wouldn't play the .ts file if the .srt file was there. It would just show a black screen. I could get the closed captions to display if I did not tell kmttg (for the Tivo) to create an .srt. I had to manually tell it to display the captions.
I created a new .ts file with an .srt for testing. If there is an .srt file, it plays the CC like subtitles. It is not a normal closed caption display. Imho it is huge and ugly in comparison to CC.
I put the .srt file in another directory to see if I could get the original style of CC back. The CC would not display but the file played. I put the .srt file back in the directory. The .ts file went back to not playing at all, even though the .srt file was there (similar to the original problem)
I marked the priority has high because now people will have no way to get closed captions on files they saved as .ts without .srt. We had to do this because VLC would hang if we left the .srt file in the directory with the .ts file.
VLC was the only player I found that would give me CC with .ts files.
