Using Serviio as a server (which works with other dlna players including vlc on Amazon Fire V1 devices)
On the amazon Fire TV v2 When ever you browse to a directory you get directory is empty, no files are ever shown for photos , audio or video.
I tried the standard version available in the amazon store and the latest nightly build. Posted on the forum , but no responses

just tried again and the fire tv v1 device was updated to the latest release and has now stopped working. If i side load the earliest version of 2.0.0 from 13 june 2016 dlna works fine n my v2 device, so something has been changed since then to stop it
As stated in the original report yes. Even though the Fire TV v2 is officially an Arm 8 device I tried both Arm 7 & 8 no differentce with the following binaries
Looks like it got broken in the 2.1.0 builds as early builds for example
VLC-Android-2.1.0-20160802-1220-ARMv8.apk
When you select the dlna server you just get pushed back to the screen where you select the dlna server
by build
VLC-Android-2.1.0-20161125-0914-ARMv8.apk ( although GUI looks very strange)
you
can select the dlna server, but all directories are empty
I tried the nighly
vlc-3.0.0-20170413-0508-git-win64.exe
and the response when clickin on the local network / UNiversal plug n play was nothing
It did not even trigger the firewall to make a connection.
I tried the main release 2.2.4 and it did try to connect , but nothing on the serviio server, and no directories were shown.
I remember you used to have to change a setting to get upnp working but could not find anything about that in the current release, is upnp now enabled by default ?
vlc works well (apart from ranson crashes after an hour or so) on the version 2.0.5-20160804-1319-ARMv8.apk on my fire
The dlna server works fine on both the above vlc , and a number of TVs, so the dlna server is ok
Sorry about before, I have now tested the 2.1.4 Android TV build (I have no Win devoce to test the Win32 version you rquested). The files are still not shown, the only difference is that the folders now show a screenshot from one of the video files in the folder (I am guessing the first file)
