Subtitles naming convention support
Currently, these subtitles are automatically picked up:
- movie.srt
- movie.languagecode.srt
- subs/movie.srt
- subs/movie.languagecode.srt
I suggest adding "Subs" (with capital letter) as well. Also, there are full names like "French" in "movie.French.srt" that are not recognized as the language "French".
I think it would be rather convenient if we pickup a SRT subtitle that is contained within the same folder, even ignoring the SRT naming. I will give an example to demonstrate its usefulness.
Example: you have a movie that you want to play, called "The Great Adventures of VLC.mp4". In the same folder, there is a file called "english.srt" and a file "french.srt". They are not picked up by VLC because they do not contain the movie name. Likewise, a file that is called "English subtitles.srt" isn't picked up either.
For folders that contain many different subtitles, e.g. > 5, the behaviour of picking up all subtitles should be disabled to prevent a mess (e.g in a "subs" folder).
Note: to prevent SRT subtitles from being picked up that do not belong to the movie, checking the length of the SRT file and comparing it with the length of the video file could help to verify if they belong together.
Is this feasible to implement and would someone like to do this? At least adding "Subs" should be as easy as comparing folder names in lowercase.
