The UPnP Client show different issues related to browsing through the server's content:
When starting VLC, in 'LOCAL NETWORK' -> 'Universal Plug'n'Play' I see the server name doubled. Selecting something different and re-selecting it, I see the server name just once.
The dropdown triangle only appears after double clicking the repsective list entry.
The list is not showing all content inside a category/directory. It only show a part of it. The is not chance to re-scan...
The Version of VLC is 3.0.0 from git dated 2015-11-06.
UPnP Server is Logitech Media Server 7.9.0.
Comment: Other clients show the metadata of that server.
To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
Issue: When I try top open the Album content by this procedure, the first song starts to play after the clicking. At same time the album expands. In that case you cannot really browse while listening to a specific track without changing the track.
MISSING CONTENT:
There is no pattern in the way that entries formatted in a special way are missing.
It seems that after a number of entries there are no more scanned/shown/present in the list.
I can confirm the problem with the max 200 items per upnp-folders. It exists with Android-clients as well:
I appreciate the network-feature of the VLC for Android client. And I would like to use it to stream videos, that I distribute in my LAN/WLAN with Kodi - I have an dedicated Kodibuntu-PC for this. That works quite well, VLC for Android find's the upnp-folders of Kodi and browsing and streaming in VLC works smooth.
But unfortunately VLC only lists a maximum of 200 files/movies per folder, eventhough I have more than 1000 movies online. I didn't find a way to see the rest of the files. If I browse the upnp-folders with my Windows-Notebook I see all the available movies, so I think it doesn't seem to be a problem of Kodi.
Is there any other way or workaround to set a higher no of listed files per folder in VLC for Android?
I reproduced the error of the limitation to 200 items in every subcategory of the uPnP browsing.
The server is Kodi 17.6 on Ubuntu 16.04
Tested on VLC 3.0.1 under Debian and under LineageOS (apk)
LineageOS screenshot attached.
I have more than 200 artists, 200 albums, 200 singles, 200 songs.
There must be either a 200 hardcoded limit, either a uPnP pagnination not used by VLC.
It's sad as it's maybe the last blocking element for me to use vlc as a lightweight uPnP client on every platform instead of using kodi (heavy!) as a client.
