Subtitle sizes differ if embedded or external
If I have a video file with external subtitles (in.mp4 and in.srt), VLC displays subtitles with big readable characters that can be adjusted in the VLC preferences.
However, when I embed the subtitles into a single mp4 file, the subtitles are displayed as very small, and can not be adjusted with VLC preferences, which is super annoying.
ffmpeg -i in.mp4 -i in.srt -acodec copy -vcodec copy -scodec mov_text out.mp4
Can this be fixed in coming releases of VLC?
(If this is not a bug in VLC, but rather ffmpeg which dictates font size etc. which VLC simply adheres, 1) please let me know how I can encode the file in a way that does not dictate font size so that the VLC defaults are used, and 2) I would still say that VLC should override these settings, because it's more important that the user gets his own consistent and desired display of subtitles rather than having some random embedded font settings forced upon you.
