Streaming multicast - Player receiving video stream stops when next video starts via playlist on streaming VLC encoder (audio continues)
The video (above link) which I have recorded and uploaded demonstrates this problem it is 3:50 in duration
I am using VLC to multicast RTP:// 232.n.n.n:5004 using a playlist of multiple video files, streamed from a VLC Server through a chain of 3 multicast enabled routers to multiple VLC players on wireless and wired which are joining the same stream eg rtp://232.7.8.7:5004.
The source transcode multicast Server uses VLC and a playlist of multiple short H264 HD files (the playlist is looped) and a batch file which calls VLC and sets up the transcode and multicast stream. ( I have tried various playlists configs and changes to the streaming transcode configuration without success so I do not believe the problem to be on the server side).
When the next new file in the source encoding playlist (i.e. one stream multiple video files) commences the receiving VLC Android player STOPS "displaying" the "video" element but "audio" from the new/next file continues to be played on the receiving device.
The Android VLC player reverts everytime to a menu screen such as the "Play Network" or the "device video library" which requires the user to manually rejoin the video stream by selecting the restart icon (lower left or top top right button next to the search icon). See the video I have uploaded.
All other VLC Players (ie all Linux and PC versions) I simultaneously test do not have this problem and function correctly while receiving the same source stream. This is true for both Wifi and Wired devices (windows and linux).
The Android Beta player (still mounted on Google Play store) does not have this problem. It began when the new screen interface was implemented as far as I believe.
Android Versions 1.3.2 - 1.5.0 all exhibit this problem.
I am testing and replicate this on both Samsung TabS(Wifi - Android 5.0.2 Kernel 3.4.39-4891982) and LG-D855(phone using wifi - Android version 5.0 kernal 3.4.0)
This problem does not occur on VLC media players for the PC i.e. 2.2.1 (Windows) and 2.0.8 (Linux).
Earlier versions of the mobile player for Android (Beta) did NOT have this problem.
This problem is present on VLC Apps that are downloaded from Google Play 1.3.2 as well as the players that I have downloaded directly from your site (1.4.1) and the latest nightly build 22 july 1.5.0.
Finally the VLC application is a great and important application which I support and endorse.
(I enclose a log from the Samsung TabS but the video clearly shows the defect)
