vlc for Windows shows subtitles, for Linux not
I created an MKV file with VOBSUB subtitles from DVD using Handbrake 0.9.9 for Ubuntu.
On Windows 7 vlc plays the MKV file, and the subtitles are available. On Ubuntu vlc won't display the subtitles -- in its Subtitle menu "Sub Track" is grayed out; however, Tools -> Codec Information shows a subtitle stream, "DVD Subtitles (spu)".
Peculiar. Part of vlc knows there are subtitles present, but it won't display them.
Basics: vlc 2.2.0-1 for Ubuntu (15.04), re-installed today, old user config deleted before checking behavior prior to reporting it. vlc for Windows 64-bit latest version as of today. Checked the forum for the problem before coming here.
