Hardware Acceleration was disabled after resuming from S3/S4 power saving mode
SYSTEM INFORMATION:
OS : W8.1 or Windows-7 OS version : 6.1.7601.18409 [Win7 RTM]
Marketing name : AMD Radeon ™ R9-200 Series BIOS Date : 2014/03/11 Memory Size : 4096 MB Memory type : GDDR5 Core clock : 1018 MHz Memory clock : 1250 MHz
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
- Prepare the setup as above mentioned configuration
- Install the 14.11.2 Catalyst driver (obtained from AMD website: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+64
- Install latest VLC (version 2.1.5)
- Enable Hardware-Acceleration in VLC player:
VLC > Tools > Preferences > Input & Codec's > Hardware-Acceleration decoding = 'DXVA-2.0' > Save
- Launch any HD clip using VLC
- Do S3 or S4 (sleep or hibernate)
- Resume & observe the issue
EXPECTED BEHAVIOR:
Clips playing with Hardware-Acceleration should continue playing with HW_ACC Hardware-Acceleration should not go away from app
ACTUAL:
VLC is losing the hardware-acceleration & continues to play remaining session on SOFTWARE mode
REGRESSION DETAILS:
Issue is reproducible on W8.1 & Win7 both
This issue is identified to be a App-Regression because Previous version of VLC (v 2.1.1 is PASSING):
VLC 2.1.1 = PASS
VLC 2.1.5 = FAIL
No issues for Disc playback (DVD) but persists for all kind of video clips
