Thumbnail Preview From Seek Bar

It would be really nice to add an ability that'll create a thumbnail preview of a video within the video window when a user does a mouse-over of the seek bar.

This would probably add quite a performance hit on seeking, and a thumbnail would require a "seperate" video output. It would be easier just to show the current frame at seekpoint in the current video window.

Youtube and the rest can pre-process the videos.

Media Player Classic has this feature and from my own use, id doesn't affect loading time on my average-spec PC.

A valuable addition to VLC

Can this be reconsidered? Computers have gotten faster since this was first proposed. People with slower computers don't have to turn this on.

Alternatives like MPC that have been mentioned are Windows-only. I would really like to see this feature in a cross-platform media player like VLC.

If they can do it, why can't VLC?

This is a very frequently requested feature, maybe we can reconsider if we can add it at some point in the future? Would certainly help for #35 ;)

Really need this feature. It's been 14 years since first request was made.

Agree, at least an option to turn this feature on, even if not enabled by default, would be very useful.
