VLC 2.1.x crash with VC++ runtime error when playing -some- DVD audio streams
Hi,
I have been using VLC since the 0.9.x era on all my platforms (Linux/RHEL, Windows and Mac). As a long time user I would like to thank the VLC team for making this great app available.
I have decided to open a new ticket because I've been running into a repeatable issue on Windows with the latest VLC-2.1.x (since 2.0.x I think) and I cannot find a way to solve this.
On some DVD ISO's (DVD5 or DVD9), some languages (French) crash VLC on Windows while other languages (english) play the Video stream just fine.
When VLC crashes, I get a popup window that says: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way"
As an example, let's take my 'FINDING NEMO' DVD ISO. (I have a legit disc but I find having a DVD ISO image more convenient for the kids).
This DVD plays fine in either French or English with VLC-2.1.3 on Linux/x86_64 (RHEL6) and MacOSX 10.8.5. No issues with these. On Windows 7 (32bit) SP1, VLC-2.1.x crashes with the above VC++ error if I select 'French' as the language. It plays fine if I select 'English' as the audio stream. It crashes at several points during the French audio Stream (3:31 into the stream is the first crash). I verified this by going directly into a chapter.
Several of my DVD ISOs exhibit this issue. I think it did not happen before VLC-2.0.x but I' ve been chasing this issue since the early 2.0.x releases.
Is there any setting that can make the VC++ runtime more resilient to audio streams with issues when they are played with VLC 2.1.x?
