upnp client will not play movie if folder.jpg or moviename.jpg is present
I have a upnp server running (minidlna 1.0.25) on my local network. I can connect to it with vlc and play movies without a problem. However, I have my movies organized such that each movie is in its own directory, with an image named folder.jpg, which is the dvd cover. In other words I may have
Aladdin/Aladdin.mkv
Aladdin/folder.jpg
in the Aladdin directory.
I notice that when I navigate to a folder of this type with VLC universal plug'n'play I see only one item. If I click it, the image is displayed for a few seconds. I can't play the movie!
If I rename the image file on the server and refresh the minidlna database so now I have
Aladdin/Aladdin.mkv
Aladdin/crap.jpg
I can play the movie without a problem. There is one other problematic circumstance: if I name the jpeg file the same thing as the movie. For example
Aladdin/Aladdin.mkv
Aladdin/Aladdin.jpg
I can only see the image, not play the movie.
I would prefer to maintain the structure I currently have on the server because when I use my WD TV Live streaming box, having those images allows me to select movies by image. I understand that VLC doesn't allow this feature (selecting movies by their image) but at least I would like to be able to view the movie through VLC.
I'm not 100% sure this is a VLC bug and not a minidlna bug, but the fact that it works beautifully when I use my WD device as a client makes me think the problem is VLC.
Tested on Linux and Windows, VLC 2.0.4 and nightly 2.1.0-git-20121117-0402.
