New Feature Request: Shuffle & Random for Playlists
For me, one of the biggest shortcomings of the VLC media player is that it is not capable of shuffling a playlist, in whole or in part.
Media players with playlists greatly benefit from having these tools available for the end user:
Playback Mode --> Random: Leaves the playlist alone, but picks a random song after the previous song finishes playing. May play the same song multiple times, before all songs in the playlist have played one time.
Playback Mode --> Shuffle: Leaves the playlist alone, but plays each song in the playlist one time.
Playlist --> Shuffle: Rearranges the order of the tracks in the playlist randomly.
Selection --> Shuffle: Rearranges the currently highlighted tracks in the playlist randomly.
To clarify the difference between random and shuffle, it is like a deck of cards: Random is taking one card from somewhere in the deck; shuffling is changing the order of the deck.
The last used option for random, shuffle, repeat, etc. should be savable for the next time, or at least as a default mode in the preferences.
