Filename in Media Library and Playlist windows (URI does not quite meet the need)

Greetings-

I am using VLC 1.1.11 on Windows XP SP3. I checked for this feature in nightly build 1.2.0-git-20111017-0004 and it is not included.

I request that you add the filename as a column choice on the media library and playlist windows.

I am trying to use VLC to play from a large classical music collection (1,000 CDs). The problem is that the database from which VLC draws the album and track titles features non-standardized names across multiple-CD performances. What this means is that it takes a lot of work to play an opera or a mass with the tracks in the correct order. Sorting by URI almost works, but it's a hassle to figure out because of the "%0.9.x maintenance%" everywhere. I end up having to read into the URI, or try to figure out what people meant by the album titles. It would be easy if I could just look at the filename.

Is there anything wrong with the provided patch here? The patch is about adding filename playlist column with sorting option, isn't it?

One option is to implement an option to disable/enable parsing of metadata.

I would prefer this filename column option so there could still be an access to metadata + option to display filename in title bar of VLC window + option for filename instead of metadata title over playing video (for file:/// sources)

Any updates? Seems like #17234 (closed) might be a duplicate.

Any update? Can not view the filenames in the playlists.
