VLC Mozilla Plugin consumes Xserver connections.
Possibly related to closed bug #4201 (closed).
VLC Mozilla Plugin consumes Xserver connections.
On linux, each time the VLC Plugin starts a video. It creates an instance of xdg_screensaver and xprop. However, the number of xdg_screensaver and xprop process increase each time VLC Plugin plays a new video. These processes consume Xserver connections which are never freed. Eventually after the sockets have built up, the video will either display a blank screen or display in a new window with ASCII characters. During this time sound will continue to be played correctly.
Restarting Firefox causes the issue to disappear. The connections to Xserver become cleared and the xdg_screensavers and xprop processes go.
This issue has also be seen on Windows XP/7 with the Mozilla Plugin so not entirely if the issue is X dependant.
I can post some steps to recreate the problem if you need.
I am offering to help solve this issue, but will need advice. Suggestions are very much welcome.
VLC Player - 1.1.10 – 1.1.11 OS: Windows 7/XP Linux (ubuntu/fedora)
Any advice will be awesome. Thanks
