Even an empty extension causes VLC to crash after it's reloaded
I've come across a nasty bug in VLC's extension system. All is well after I open VLC, load my empty "Crash-Test-Dummy" extension (attached) and start playing local or remote media.
I then stop the media from playing, deactivate and reactivate the extension. If I then start playing (the same) media again, the VLC GUI locks-up permanently and I have to kill it manually.
I sometimes need to redo this (stop/deactivate/reactivate/play) procedure a few times before the crash occurs. Please confirm whether you're able to reproduce this problem at your end.
This behaviour happens in both Windows and Linux with VLC v1.1.10. It's possibly due to a memory leak and it could be causing the problem I reported in the second paragraph of Ticket #5016 (closed).
