*.txt subtitles doesn't work

Today after upgrading my VLC's version to the newest (1.1.6) I cannot watch movies with subtitles which have .txt extension.

A friend of mine has found a temporary solution for this problem: change file's extension to .sub.

txt is really a stupid extension for subtitles. This extension was causing more false positives than correct match and was purposefully removed from the list.

If you want to open a subtitle with .txt you need to select it manually.

On Mac OS X when I try to open file I cannot choose it (grayed).

Renaming a file it's not a problem for me actually. I was just wondering what happened after a upgrade. :)

It should work manually though...
