VLC Stream from capture to file (h264 codec) results in corrupt file

Using vlc 1.1.4 on Ubuntu Maverick and Windows. When capturing from a webcam (v4l2) or capture from desktop, I can play the output within VLC with no problems. However, If I try to stream it to a local file, using a the H264+AAC codecs (MP4) the resulting file doesn't contain any stream, and it's not playable.

To reproduce:

1. Make sure a capture device is connected, or use capture Desktop
2. Select open capture device.
3. Select stream and in destination select file (make sure you push add to select the filename).
4. Select the Video: H264+AAC (MP4 or TS).
5. Start the stream.

Expected: the stream is saved into a MP4 file, which is playable

Actual: The stream is saved into a corrupt file with no stream.

The file isn't "corrupted" but empty (except the mp4 headers) : 44 bytes.

Except if you wait enough time (didn't measure exactly but 1 minute is enough) it'll start filling with data.

Increasing the framerate reduce the delay

When I tested it again, and let it run for more than a minute, I got a file which is not empty, but it is still unplayable. Please find attached the resulting test file. I used the following output string:

Weird, the file now plays fine...

All right, I found the issue. The file will not play in any other player UNTIL after VLC has been closed. After that it plays just fine.
