Font cache is constantly rebuilt
VLC constantly rebuilds the font cache when the user has their %AppData% directory redirected to a UNC server path.
%AppData% = "\server.domain.tld\UserData%UserName%\AppData\Roaming"
A cache file is never created any where.

This is a much larger problem than just UNC pathing as evidence:

This is one of many threads on the subject.
I have two near identical systems running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 one requires the font cache to be rebuilt once the other requires it for EVERY video. Both are OEM installs of Win7 and new installs of VLC (no previous prefs)

Please read the folowing thread for an analyse of the problem and why there is no hurry to fix it: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.videolan.vlc.devel/75631

If you really care, why have you not already updated the fontconfig patches? It should be pretty trivial since we know what and where the problem is (c.f. the vlc-devel thread).

Fontconfig is no longer necessary for the main renderer module on Win32.
