fullscreen key does not always work

Reported by: alexandreracine Assigned to:
Priority: low Milestone: WX bugs
Component: Interfaces Version: 0.8.6 (bugfix)
Severity: minor Keywords: f fullscreen key
Cc: Platform(s): Linux
Difficulty: unknown Work status: Not started

Description

Whenever I use the default "f" key (or any other if I change the key) for fullscreen mode, it does not always work. Other function with keys work (like forward) but not fullscreen.

So to fullscreen, I right clic and use the fullscreen menu when the key does not work. I try to delete the preference file, but same result. Sometimes the key work and sometimes it does not.

I saw something in the tracker about a similar problem, but that was in 2003 and fixed.

  • version set to 0.8.6.

Consider that some hotkeys are active only when the VIDEO OUTPUT is selected (for example, video hotkeys such as fullscreen).

Please confirm that it always works when you click on the video output.

Also please tell us what happens when not using the wxwidgets interface (example: vlc -I rc /path/to/file )

Last, please use a nightly build from http://nightlies.videolan.org

What do you mean by clicking "VIDEO OUTPUT"? Could you give me more details about that? Is it in the preferences? In the advance options? Thanks.

When I am not using the wxwidgets interface, as the example above, the fullscreen hotkey is always working! :)

I'll try the latest nightly build after the video output thing.

  • milestone set to WX bugs.

I mean clicking on the video itself, so it gets the focus.

ok, yes the focus was on the video.

That's great. I open a ticket and it get closed without any explanations.

Could someone tell me why this ticket is closed? What does WX bugs milestone means? Thanks.

WX bugs means the same thing than closing: no one cares about.

If you don't provide a fix yourself, it won't be fixed.

Ok.

Wx interface have bugs that are inherent to the library. We can't fix them and we will ignore them. Moreover the official interface of VLC is rewritten in Qt and doesn't have this bug.

This is why the bug was closed and is going to be reclosed soon.

However, if you have a fix, then, great, give it to us.

ok, thanks for the infos, and I also got more details here http://www.jbkempf.com/blog/post/2007/02/10/Qt4-Interface

So, I'll wait for version 0.90, since this is not critical.

After that, I'll also wait for ticket 35 to complete ;) https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/35
